The continuous development of technical standards depends on close collaboration across the industry. At the latest meeting of the German Flat Glass Association's 'Warm Edge' Working Group, IGK contributed its expertise to current standardization and development projects.
The energy efficiency of modern insulating glass depends on many factors. One of the most important is the edge seal system with its spacer technology – commonly known as the Warm Edge. It helps reduce heat loss, improves thermal insulation and minimizes the risk of condensation around the edge of the glazing.
Meeting at the ift Rosenheim
To continuously improve materials, testing methods and industry standards, manufacturers, testing institutes and industry associations meet regularly within the Warm Edge Working Group of the German Flat Glass Association (Bundesverband Flachglas). The latest meeting took place in June at the ift Rosenheim. Among the key topics were the characterization of high-barrier films for spacer systems and the ongoing revision of the European standard EN 1279 for insulating glass. Participants also discussed the integration of additional spacer categories into future requirements and testing procedures.
Regular Professional Exchange
As a manufacturer of adhesives and sealants for insulating glass edge sealing systems, IGK actively contributes to these technical discussions. IGK was represented at the meeting by Nicole Seibold, who contributed her practical expertise to the discussions. The close exchange with spacer manufacturers, testing institutes and industry organizations enables the company to identify emerging developments at an early stage and incorporate new findings into the continuous improvement of its products and technical documentation.
For IGK customers, this means solutions and technical information that are aligned not only with today's requirements, but also with the standards that will shape the future of the insulating glass industry. Active participation in industry working groups is therefore an important part of IGK's commitment to quality, innovation and long-term customer support.
